Wedding Day Comfort - Comfortable Shoes Are So Important

Unsure what the perfect shoe is for you on your wedding day? Will you choose a 3” heel shoe or pick a flat shoe? Open toe or sandal type? So many choices and so many colors, styles and designs to choose from – where to start!

If you let the overwhelming choices daunt you, you may find it extremely difficult to find those perfect wedding shoes for that most important day.

To help you choose the right pair of wedding shoes you just need to bear in mind your wedding gown fabric, color and design. Normally your wedding shoes will match your gown as closely as possible. This basically means that assuming you will have chosen your dress first you will then match the style and colour of your wedding shoes with the material of your dress.

For the right look to co-ordinate with your special gown there are a few small rules to follow:

For the shorter wedding dress (knee length) dress heels would be the correct choice to make your legs look slimmer. Your legs will appear to look longer which has to be a plus – particularly for people like me who suffer from duck’s disease.

If you opt for an open toe to you high heeled shoes than make sure that you have beautifully manicured toe nails and well kept feet. If you opt for sling back shoes and you are a person who likes to walk around with bare feet in the summer please remember that everyone will be able to see your heels – so please no ugly heel cracks on display.

If your decision is to hold your marriage ceremony in the summer and in the great outdoors then sandals would be a good choice so that your feet get a good chance to breath. No bad smells after you take them off at the end of the day!

Your comfort really is important on this day. Try to find a wedding shoe that feels comfortable on your feet. We all know how awful it is at the end of a long day “on your feet” when all you want to do is take your shoes off. Here is an idea – do you have a nice pair of shoes that you have worn in but not out? Maybe you could have them dyed or covered in a matching fabric so that you are both in fashion and comfortable. Don’t go for something that just fits rather select the size that you would normally wear for your office or dress shoes. Do not sacrifice style over comfort. Basically sore feet can equal misery. Again with comfort in mind regarding shoe size it would be best to go for the larger size should you fall between two sizes.

If you decide to choose a wedding shoe with straps or ties make sure that they loosen easily and do not scrape your skin.

Your wedding shoes can make or break your wedding day.

Break in your wedding shoes before your Big Day. Try out your shoes on different kinds of surfaces to see if you will have any difficulty in walking. To avoid tripping on slippery floors in your wedding shoes roughen the soles of your new shoes with sandpaper. Do not be sorry for not planning to happily combine your look with comfort.

It is also best to have a second pair of wedding shoes. Choose a pair with low heels so that you can change your shoes during the reception should you wish.

Generally Brides do not give as much attention to their wedding shoes as they do to their gowns. They think that their guests’ attention will be only on their dress. However most people are drawn to the bride’s shoes particularly if they are wearing a short dress Naturally extra attention is, in this instance, given to the shoes worn. It certainly pays to spend that extra effort in choosing the perfect pair wedding shoes. Wouldn’t it be nice to put your best foot forward on your wedding day.
