Ideas For Finding Your Wedding Theme

Maybe you think it would be a good idea to have a particular theme for your wedding - something lively, or romantic, or tropical, or old fashioned, or a theme from the country of your forebears, even maybe my personal favourite - a traditional wedding theme.

Whatever you decide you need to own it - make it yours for the day - having said that here are some good ideas.

A Country and Western wedding - checked shirts, boots and hats, square dancing, and a bbq with a spit roast.

Tropical Wedding - hold it on the beach, Caribbean food, guests in flowing beach garments, candles in glass holders to light the way, tropical flower wreaths in the Bride and Bridesmaids hair. Hire a steel drum band, organise a beach tent for the food to be eaten under the stars. Imagine waiters in tuxedos threading their way along the sand to present you and your guests with gorgeous drink on silver trays.

Mediavel Wedding - hire or make the appropriate period costumes, go to your local Renaissance/Medieval Jousting Group and find out as much as you can re. the hire of props, tents, cups etc. Serve mead, wine and food such as turkey legs, chicken wings, prawn kebabs, ribs etc where plates and cutlery are not a requirement.

Ski Wedding - Assemble at the top of the mountain for the ceremony, then ski down to the Reception at your chosen Chalet and enjoy a warming gluwein in front of the fire before your party starts.

Victoriana Wedding - hire or make the period clothing, choose an old Inn or period house for your reception and serve a huge afternoon tea complete lots of pretty cakes served on cake stands by ladies in black and white maid's outfits with frilly aprons.

There are so many ideas to be sorted through such as sci-fi., Roaring 20's, Sport related., Safari style., Funky in the disco style., underwater and the latest surfacing are fairy tale weddings such as Sleeping Beauty - I wonder how a "Jolly Green Giant " type would appeal? or a muppets wedding - anything seems to be the go although being somewhat of an admirer of beautiful weddings, I cannot go past the Traditional style myself....but obviously that is not what makes the world go around!
